About Me

Christina is an award-winning writer and photographer, and an emerging screenwriter. As a globe-trotting ABC (Australian-Born Chinese) and twice-married mother of two, Christina is passionate about creating diverse, interesting and complicated characters in her creative work.

Writing

Christina has written original short stories and poems since the mid-90s - her first original published piece was an unintentionally erotic poem in the Adelaide street magazine, dB. Many of her short stories were adapted for her food and travel blog, The Hungry Australian, which won the Australian Writers’ Centre’s Best Australian Blogs 2014 competition, over 1,100 other blogs.

Screenwriting

Christina loves mining the drama and comedy to be found in stories about cultural identity, intergenerational conflict, family dynamics, and gender issues, across different forms. Christina was awarded a 2023 Varuna Fellowship to work on her Tiger Mum for Hire screenplay, shortlisted (top 3) for the $80,000 2022 SA SBS Emerging Screenwriters’ Incubator, and selected for the AFTRS’ 2022 SA Talent Camp.

Development

Christina has worked in development on original scripted drama series (TV and web) for Disney+, the ABC and SBS.

Freelance Writing

Christina’s food, travel and lifestyle writing has been published in numerous publications including Jetstar Magazine, The China Daily and The Adelaide Review. She has contributed hundreds of commissioned articles to print and online publications as well as the occasional short story and poem.

Photography

Christina’s recipes and photography have appeared in Elle, Gourmet, Elle Decor, The Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, and InDaily. Christina was also commissioned to shoot an award-winning, 500-page coffee table book, Flavours of South Australia, for Smudge Publishing, and won the Oustanding Use of Photography award at the Australian Writers’ Centre’s Best Australian Blogs 2013 competition for her post on Dubai’s souks (marketplaces).
