In May 2015, I was invited to take part in South African Tourism's #MeetSouthAfrica campaign. This involved travelling around South Africa for 10 days visiting numerous restaurants, bars, hotels, wineries, and attractions in different regions, as well as taking part in a 3-day safari on a private game reserve, the International Travel Bloggers Conference and the massive INDABA travel conference in Durban. During the trip I shared my experiences in real time via social media and following the trip, I blogged about the trip on my food and travel blog, The Hungry Australian.
As part of the South Australian Tourism Commission's (SATC) new approach to tourism marketing, I was commissioned to produce four lengthy pieces (words and photos) on four distinct SA regions -- Adelaide, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and the Barossa Valley -- for publication on the new SATC website and SATC's partners' websites. This involved visiting numerous restaurants, cafes, bars, markets, food shops, food producers, wineries and attractions in each region and then producing four, comprehensive original photo-journalism pieces (average 2,000 words and 30 photos), where I shared my recommendations and tips. I had complete control over which venues I wanted to write about and how I wrote about them. The new site and material will be launched in June 2015.
I worked with Tourism Tasmania on their #GoBehindTheScenes campaign in late 2013. For the first part of the project, I travelled around the island visiting my chosen restaurants, markets, producers and gourmet stores to seek out undiscovered foodie gems, documenting my experiences on social media as I went. Following my trip, I blogged three posts about my experiences on The Hungry Australian. My photographs and words were then licensed to Tourism Tasmania for use on its official #GoBehindTheScenes website and magazine.
I have been working regularly with the Almond Board of Australia since late 2011, providing the industry organisation with recipe development, food styling, food photography, and blogging services. See my work at Amazing Almonds.
I was commissioned to create two original recipes and all the key imagery (including food and props styling) for Custard Apples Australia's 2013 media campaign. My work was sent out to hundreds of Australian journalists and my recipes and photographs were picked up and featured by dozens of media organisations.
I was commissioned by Bacardi Lion to produce a series of new cocktail recipes and the final imagery (food styling and photography) using Bacardi Rum, Bombay Sapphire Gin and Grey Goose Vodka. I blogged the recipes on The Hungry Australian in 2013/2014 and they were then licensed for publication on Bacardi's official Sensology site. Read about the collaboration in Campaign Brief.
I was commissioned to produce a series of six recipes (including food styling and photography) for Bertolli Olive Oil targeted at an Asian-Australian demographic. My recipes and images were used in the company's websites, newsletters and print media advertisements.
I was the food stylist on two Wok in a Box shoots in 2013. The first shoot was to create appropriate images for use on the stores' menu boards, printed menus, posters and websites. The second shoot was styling food for a Wok in the Box TV commercial promoting their new kids' menu.
In early 2015 I was commissioned to shoot, style and create a 6-page picnic feature in Aspire Magazine featuring recipes by myself and two of my blogger friends. Shooting the picnic scene with 4 adults, 3 children and 6 dishes in a garden setting on a hot Summers' day took a huge amount of preparation and work but the results were worth it.
In late 2014 I was commissioned to create content (words and photos) for a 7-page feature in Tiger Airways' magazine, Tiger Tales, detailing a weekend in Adelaide with my BFF. To create this piece, I visited and shot numerous restaurants, cafes, bars, beauty places, shops and attractions.
In 2014/5 I was commissioned by The Adelaide Review to produce a number of 1-2 page food and travel pieces (words and photos) for publication in the monthly magazine.
In 2015 I was commissioned by the annual Adelaide Dining Magazine to produce a 2-page piece on Adelaide dessert bars.
I was commissioned by Hardie Grant to produce 10 articles for Food SA's Food Users Guide 2013 produced by Hardie Grant. This involved researching and interviewing local South Australian food producers and industry experts to produce introductions and overviews to the many different sectors of the local food industry.
In late 2014 I began working with award-winning ed-tech company, Makers Empire, on their marketing and communications. I redesigned their website and blog and overhauled their social media, sales, direct marketing, PR and marketing strategies.
